for new audiences!
SCOPE
We enjoy playing for our traditional audiences. Yet we recognize that even
though classical music itself will never
disappear, some 90% of Americans are missing out on
some very cool music. So our goal is to play
and promote classical LESS formally to help popular culture ease past the prevalent social stigmas against
it. CutTime warms up quality classical music for young and diverse audiences
by performing established masterpieces and catchy new works. We
reset the personal context for classical with emotional stories, insightful analogies, true interactions and humor that help our audiences get beyond the mysterious and
exclusive standards that ground our profession.
By experimenting with free concerts,
amplification, introductions and speak-easy
environments in non-traditional venues, we break thru the walls that
turn many people off. By explaining some basics
we take for granted and perhaps shortening traditional terms, we
push classical toward the 22nd-Century. By performing symphonic repertoire as small, versatile ensembles, we showcase the surprising qualities of talent around orchestras, seeking to draw attention and audiences to their local musicians. By creating symphonic music that is fully classical or skirt the boundaries with urban pop, we prove that the past can be refreshed with the present.
CutTime Players® continues to perform the Stravinsky work that first inspired it,
Histoire du Soldat, as well as the handful of other works composed for this ensemble. Most importantly,
CutTime sells these transcriptions and compositions when possible
to music schools and professional orchestras to enhance their community outreach. Given the resources, we can
lower that 90%. CutTime intends to bring a
MILLION people to enjoy classical music as
they do other music!
