Classical Revolution Detroit welcomes Leonard Slatkin
@ Majestic Theatre 4120 Woodward Ave Detroit 48201
CRD is proud to announce that Detroit Symphony Orchestra Music Director Leonard Slatkin will appear at this event to lead Samuel Barber's sublime Knoxville: Summer of 1915 featuring coloratura soprano Kimberley Dolanski and a 27-piece chamber orchestra! This will certainly be our finest event celebrating classical music taken completely off the pedestal of the concert hall. Kim sang Oct. 11 and floored everyone with her star power and versatility. When she suggested the Barber, we couldn't resist the opportunity to invite Mr. Slatkin who eagerly agreed to conduct this quintessentially American work! The orchestra will also read 1st movements of Mozart Symphony #25, Bach Orchestral Suite #2, Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto with Sharon Sparrow and Kerstin Allvin plus Sibelius Andante Festivo.
Please join us for this unprecedented interactive evening presented FREE with local volunteer musicians "jamming" on chamber music to turn on new audiences. With the activities on the level floor, the audience will be encouraged to stand around and even sit within the orchestra on the level floor at 9:00 for an experience they can't get elsewhere! Slatkin takes the stage at 9:35 for the Barber.
Attended parking is available behind the Majestic and across Woodward.

Mr. CutTime writes...

Dear Classical Music Lover,
Your visit to this website means a lot. Thank you for seeking information about our pioneering ensembles and the new series Classical Revolution Detroit. Please enjoy what you find and share these MP3s from our live performances. You might also be interested to see adventurous programs from earlier seasons or l
isten to my recent NPR interview with Guy Raz.

Last year we launched our string sextet CutTime Simfonica® with two successful inaugural concerts and a recording session! The results are now available at iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. We also launched an ad hoc string quartet that will play at budget and even FREE concerts and readings! We also produced a high-quality brochure with help from the Kresge Fellowship!

We're happy to enjoy a residency at the Virgil H. Carr Cultural Arts Center and the launch of Classical Revolution Detroit. There was a Dec. 12, 2010 interview about it on WRCJ 90.9. Perhaps BEST of all was playing for homeless Detroiters at Christmas 2010 & 2011! VIDEO

Classical music, DSO and many inspirations continue to make my artistic dreams come true. As I hit the road with my work of the last 16 years, let me share those dreams with you right where you live!
Let me show you WHY classical music still very much matters... in your neighborhood houses of worship, schools, favorite restaurant, bar or even your home! Just contact me with information for concert organizers near you or better yet, tell presenters, your friends and family that you want to CLICK with classical in CutTime!

Another way to support CutTime® projects is by donating through the Arts League of Michigan, a 501(c)3 organization of Detroit. Please call 313-965-8430 for more information about our fiscal sponsorship agreement.

Thank you!
